Make sure to have all
required supplies so that you may earn the full allotment of homework points. I will circulate and check during silent reading.

Due Thursday, February 12, 2009:


Submit a draft of your essay to
myaccess.com to test that your login works and also to have an opportunity to get feedback and subsequently revise.

While you are at it, also test your
turnitin.com login.

DO NOT WAIT until Friday to test your logins because I will not be available on Friday to assist you. Late essays will NOT be accepted; hard-copy essays will not be accepted; and e-mailed essays will not be accepted. You were given ALL week, and you were warned MANY times.

Due Friday, February 13, 2009:

Complete and submit
by 10 PM to both myaccess.com and turnitin.com an essay in response to the "Recommending Literature" prompt as prescribed on the essay assignment sheet and as discussed in class.

Follow the first outline on this
outline hand-out and be sure to use terminology from the "Menu of Literary Elements and Devices" and "How to Read a Narrative."

Check your
myaccess.com and turnitin.com logins.

Another essay will be due next Friday. Remember that no late essays will be accepted. Essays MUST be turned in exactly as prescribed, so plan ahead!

Study the
practice exams (and the concepts therein) in preparation for a cumulative exam.

Due Friday, February 27, 2009:

Write and submit an essay regarding your novel in accordance with this
essay assignment sheet.

outline hand-out and also this Menu of Literary Elements and Devices to assist you.

Due Wednesday, March 11, 2009:


Bring to class (or have in myaccess.com already) the 800+-word rough draft of your personal narrative "An Important Change."
Due Sunday, March 15, 2009:

Submit to
myaccess.com by midnight at least one (preferably several) worthy submissions of your essay entitled "An Important Change." Your goals are to earn a score of 6 and a readability score at or above your grade level. Additionally, you want your story to be compelling, truthful and expressive.

Please also submit any
newsletter submissions to me via e-mail so that I may fill the next issue with rich examples of student writing.

Due Tuesday/Wednesday, March 17/18, 2009:


Submit
via e-mail or the submissions folder at least one newsletter entry (if you haven't already) so that it may be considered for publication in the next issue of the Nitrometer. Make sure to e-mail or submit your entry no later than midnight Tuesday (Wednesday AM). Here is a comic template, if you need.
