| For Tuesday, July 15, 2008 Make sure you have ALL the required supplies. For Monday, July 21, 2008: Study the Semester II final exam and answer key in preparation for Monday's cumulative exam. Also, finish solving your peer's word puzzle so that you may put it in your work portfolio at a later date, if you so choose (optional). For Tuesday, July 22, 2008: Bring to class two drafts of the Literary Response and Analysis essay you wrote in class on Monday in response to any poem in Chapter 7 of the anthology. Use the suggested outline, menu of literary elements and devices and model essays handed out in class and/or pages 483-486 of the anthology to help guide your progress. For Wednesday, July 23, 2008: Bring to class a final draft of your Literary Response and Analysis essay, typed and in accordance with MLA format. For Thursday, July 24, 2008: Bring to class a much better final draft of your Literary Response and Analysis essay. Make sure it contains at least 750 words and that it is properly formatted. Also, bring a completed Reader's Companion for your chosen novel (you will be given a novel exam Thursday in class) and... Do and bring ALL activities from pg. 305 of the anthology. For Monday, July 28, 2008: Write a 750+-word persuasive essay (rough draft OK) in answer to the question Does God Exist? If you do NOT do this assignment, you will be given two zeroes -- one for homework and another for essays. This means, then, that this essay is doubly important. Also, read the pages of the novel that were assigned to you by your novel group leader. You will be given separate homework points for this, so if you DO NOT do the reading, you will earn another 0% in the homework column. If you DO the reading, you will earn another 100% in the homework column. If you forgot to bring home the book, then go to the library or bookstore. NO EXCUSES WILL BE ENTERTAINED. For Tuesday, July 29, 2008: Complete the final draft of your persuasive essay of at least 750 words, typed and in MLA format. For Wednesday, July 30, 2008: Write short, appropriate definitions for each of the final vocabulary words.Then study those definitions for tomorrow's vocabulary exam. For Thursday, July 31, 2008: Prepare for the novel exam, the final exam and the in-class essay by finishing your novel; completing a Reader's Companion for your novel; reviewing the vocabulary words and also the grammar workbook. Also, bring your anthology so that we may return it to the textbook room. |
