Also follow the prescribed outline. In addition to submitting essay revisions, please bring all newsletter entries to class on Wednesday, or submit them electronically to akittelson@gusd.net no later than Wednesday at 5 PM. For Tuesday, May 27, 2008: ELA and ELD 4: This is your last chance to strip your "Literary Response and Analysis - Theme - Generic A" essay of all plagiaristic snippets. Every sentence must be yours. Your deadline is 10 PM. No exceptions. For Friday, May 30, 2008: ELD 1-2: Study your sight word flash cards in preparation for a spelling test. For Tuesday, June 3, 2008: ELA and ELD 4: Choose a topic for your research project and bring in three varied pieces of secondary source material for your chosen topic. These may include books, news articles, journal articles, acadmic theses and dissertations, wikipedia entries and more. |
For Wednesday, June 4, 2008: ELA and ELD 4: Bring in another source for your research project so that you have four sources to comb through in class. You may use Wikipedia as one source, and from there you can find other sources. Make sure to print out and/or carry to class the actual source material, not just a list of sources. To help you come up with a topic and then organize and process your research, you may use this Research Assistant. For Thursday, June 5, 2008: ELA and ELD 4: Complete the Fact and Reference Organizer that was started in class. For Friday, June 6, 2008: ELA and ELD 4: Continue to work on your paper. For Monday, June 9, 2008: ELA and ELD 4: Complete either a full outline or a rough draft of your 1,000+ word paper (or 5+ minute speech). You must show written evidence of substantial progress toward your ultimate goal. A finished Fact and Reference Organizer is not enough, as that was already due! For Tuesday, June 10, 2008: ELA and ELD 4: Complete a rough draft of your paper. Make sure to include parenthetical citations within the text where appropriate. The "Works Cited" page is not due until Wednesday. Refer to the model paper for answers on organization and/or formatting. Use this hand-out and/or citcationmachine.net to help. For Thursday, June 12, 2008: ELA and ELD 4: Bring the final draft of your research project. If you are proffering a speech, be prepared to present. |
