| For Wednesday, September 26, 2007: ELA: Finish your two dramatic assignments -- a one+ page autobiographical monologue AND one of the following: - A one+ page fictional monologue whereby you are a character (not yourself). You might begin: "My name is Bob Johnson. I am an alien. I believe that I was sent to Earth to bring joy to all people, especially tall people. See, on my planet tall people are highly revered. I would love it if the tall people here on Earth were to feel just as terrific as the tall people on my planet, so I am on a mission. Oh, by the way...my planet is called Gargantuan..." - A three+ page fictional dialogue whereby you design a conversation between two or more characters. You might begin: Bob: Hi, Carla. How are you? Carla: Shut up, Bob. Don't you know I don't like to talk in the morning, especially to you. Bob: Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Carla: Because you always repeat yourself. For Tuesday, October 2, 2007: ELA and ELD 4: Read for twenty minutes and complete the appropriate portion of the reading log. For Wednesday, October 3, 2007: ELA: Write a short, 500+-word essay. Have it typed or written in cursive in black or blue ink. For further directions, read the essay assignment page. If you are choosing to write a Response to Literature essay, then also see this menu of literary items to discuss. Please note that the reading log is also due. For Tuesday. October 16 - Thursday, October 18, 2007: ELA and ELD 4: Read for at least twenty minutes and complete the appropriate portion of the reading log. For Monday, October 22, 2007: ELA: Read for enjoyment, and, if you have the opportunity, watch a movie with subtitles. ELD: Read a newspaper article; watch an English-language TV show; and spend some time with English-speaking friends and/or relatives. For Monday, October 29, 2007: ELA and ELD 4: Complete the literary response and analysis survey and any/all outstanding class assignments. |
For Monday November 5, 2007: ELA and ELD 4: Acquire and bring to class at least one text from the approved grade-level list to be used in class for silent reading and other purposes. Also track down and bring to class the text(s) you are analyzing for your Literary Response and Analysis essay. |
