ESSAY PROMPTS CONTINUED -

Compare and contrast the tone and purpose of two or more of any of the assigned works. Use references and excerpts to support your views.

What is satire and what are the objectives of satire? Use references to and excerpts from the assigned works to support your thesis.

How is the purpose of satire different from the purpose of absurdism? Use as support references to and excerpts from any or all of the currently assigned works in addition to references to and excerpts from either of the previously assigned absurdist plays.

How are satire and parody different? Use the assigned works to support your thesis.

SPECIAL NOTE:

It may be argued that the majority of the works that I have assigned over this winter break are "
progressive" in political slant. If this offends your sensibilities, feel free to e-mail me one or two "conservative" titles that I might add to the list.

Also, if you have an essay prompt or two that you would like to enter into the fray,
e-mail me your ideas.

For those of you whose names were drawn and are thereby set to receive free amazon.com copies of
Gulliver's Travels, I will contact you when they come in. They were set to arrive last Thursday, but, alas, they did not.
