| Ms. Kittelson 2008-2009 What to Do When You Have a Question About Something in Class: First, ask yourself if the question is relevant to the topic being discussed. Once you have determined that the question is on-topic, if it is at the beginning of lesson, wait for further directions; perhaps Ms. Kittelson will answer your question as part of the directions. Then, if you still have a question, revisit the problem by rereading the confusing portion or rethinking your approach. Next, quietly ask at least two students sitting near you (assuming it is not silent time) to help you solve the problem. Finally, after exhausting the previous options, either raise a quiet hand or write Ms. Kittelson a note, whichever feels more appropriate given the situation. If you choose to write Ms. Kittelson a note, then place it on her desk when the time is right, or e-mail her a copy of it later. You may also come in any day after school. The purpose of this policy is to encourage students to become active, confident, self-reliant and powerful learners, not merely passive recipients of teacher-disseminated information. |
